JAKARTA: PT KAI membeli 50 unit lokomotif KA.
VP Head of Corporate Communication, Makmur Syaheran, mengatakan lokomotif itu
akan dikirim bertahap mulai tahun depan. Pada tahap awal, sebanyak 15 lokomotif
buatan General Electric, Amerika Serikat, itu akan tiba pada 30 September 2015.
Tahap selanjutnya, 15 unit lokomotif pada 29 Oktober 2015. Kemudian pengiriman tahap 3 sebanyak 9 unit pada 30 November 2015. Semua lokomotif yang diterima tahun depan itu akan dioperasikan di Jawa, untuk kereta penumpang & barang.
"Terakhir 11 unit lokomotif datang pada 30 September 2016, untuk Sumsel," tuturnya. Ia menerangkan, 50 lokomotif itu merupakan program pengadaan KAI tahun ini, di luar pengadaan 100 unit lokomotif pada tahun lalu.
Sebelumnya, Dirjenka Kemenhub, Hermanto Dwiatmoko, mengungkapkan pemerintah menerima pengajuan ijin PT KAI mendatangkan 50 lokomotif baru. Lokomotif itu akan didistribusikan ke Pulau Jawa & Sumatera.

JAKARTA: PT KAI has purchased 50 new train locomotives. KAI Spokesperson Makmur Syaheran, said that the locomotives will be delivered in several stages starting next year. For the initial stage, 15 locomotives from America's General Electric (GE) are scheduled to arrive on September 30, 2015.
The next 15 locomotives are set to arrive on October 29 2015. Later on, 9 locomotives will arrive on November 30, 2015. All the new locomotives will be operated in Java to accommodate passenger and freight trains.
"The final 11 units will arrive on September 30, 2016 for South Sumatera operations," said Makmur. He added that the 50 locomotives are part of KAI's procurement program for 2014. With a 2,250 horsepower engine, each locomotive can travel to speeds between 115 to 140 kilometers per hour.
Hermanto Dwiatmoko, Director General of Trains Division for the Ministry of Transportation, said that the government has approved KAI's proposal to purchase 50 new locomotives.
"Each locomotive costs US$2.5 to 3 million," said him.
