[KU-290/2012] Coal Mining Contract Of Work Re-Evalution May Not Complete This Year

JAKARTA: The government is evaluating the negotiation results over the contract of work (KK) and working agreement of coal mining business (PKP2B) in layers, hence, the evaluation may not complete this year.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Rudi Rubiandini stated the Ministry has completed the renegotiation process of several contracts but the negotiation results must be evaluated by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.

“Director General of Mineral and Coal Thamrin Sihite will express his standpoint but it cannot be regarded as the official negotiation results before the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources conduct evaluation,” he said in his office, Friday (11/30).

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has formed an evaluation team for adjusting KK and PKP2B under President Decree No. 3/2012 on January 10, 2012.

It has been almost a year but there is still no amended renegotiation contract results that are signed.

In fact, the evaluation team is assigned to carry out the evaluation until December 2013, meaning that the renegotiation must be completed over the next one year.

Currently, Rudi added, the government is focusing on proposing additional quota of subsidized fuel to the House of Representatives before recess on December 14. (T06/msw)
